Dear Kathryn,
Firstly your words are so beautifully and poetically delicious. Wow. I felt I was there, enjoying every aspect you described.
Plus โpootlingโ is an absolutely excellent word and Iโm reminded to use it more!
Iโm so sorry you donโt get to enjoy somewhere and all it held now; somewhere that sounds like part of your very essence. The pain of that is profound.
I do love that you spent part of your ill times drifting on a boat, feeling part of nature. It made me picture Anne of Green Gables enacting the Lady of Shalot.
Being on a slow boat amidst the healing water and wildlife and greenery just sounds like the perfect option for us all, if it were possible of course.
And I absolutely relate to talking in past tense about wonderful times when still only in our 40โs. It isnโt right and there is just so much grief and loss always sitting right under the surface within a body battling ME, isnt there? It is a lot to bear and so much to constantly train our eye and minds to closer-to-home, soothing beauty and healing moments.
Your writing transported me and Iโm grateful that you spent your energy sharing with us.
I so so hope one day you get to drift once again along your canal. With love,
