Explore the messages

A dog walk through autumn leaves. Sitting in the stands at a football match. That café with the amazing view.

Places that once felt ordinary can take on a different meaning when you can no longer reach them.

From famous landmarks to everyday places, here are the messages sent to the project by people who would be there if they could.

A screenshot of the project message map. It shows the lower part of the UK with Ireland in the top left corner. . The land is bright green and the sea is blue. Purple dots across the UK represent the places people have left messages for as part of the project "I would be here if I could"
A selection of postcards with messages to KP, layered on top of each other, each stamped with a stamp which is a photo of the Mirrorbox, in the top right.

Digital postcards

For so many people the experience of being house and bed-bound means you are cut off and isolated from the rest of the world.

If a message has resonated with you (and the sender has given us their permission) you’re invited to reply with a digital postcard.

From their homes, message senders see your postcard and know you thought of them.

Please note: All postcards are reviewed by the project team, before they are sent on to the message sender. We do not share any personal details. Click here to read our privacy policy.

Taking part and leaving a message

The project is not currently open for new messages about places you love. We hope that, with future funding, we can reopen submissions. Follow the project for updates.
