Join the team travelling with the Mirrorbox

A large mirrored box has been placed in a field. It is the size of a phone box. It is summer and the sky is blue with clouds. There are trees in the background. Join the team installing and managing The Mirrorbox at locations on its first Journey in June and July this year. For this stage all applicants need to be based near Bristol. We are looking for:
– A production/ stage manager
– 2 x Production assistants

We are looking for people who are both practical and comfortable interacting with the general public and who understand the context and significance of this journey.

About the journey
The Mirrorbox will be travelling across the UK over the next few years. Taking messages from people living with M.E. and Long Covid to the places they love but can no longer get to. Their messages determine the locations it travels to.

Please note we are a small team and will look at the first 20 applicants only for each role. You can contact Alison and check how many applicants we have had already before applying, we have limited resources and simply can’t process more. 

The roles: 

  1. Production/ stage manager £300 p/d

Responsibilities:

  • Transporting The Mirrorbox to locations (it comes flat packed)
  • Responsible for set up, and de-rig of The Mirrorbox at each location 
  • Problem solving any practical and logistical challenges 
  • Helping the general public to navigate the interactive experience

Experience and skills needed:

  • Experience with site specific artwork
  • Clean driving licence – be over 25yrs to drive a hired van.
  • You will need to be physically fit, able to lift and carry sections of the box (max 25kg)
  • Outgoing, emapthetic and good with the general public
  • Trained in first aid and ideally mental health first aid trained (we will also provide training)
  • An understanding of M.E. and Long Covid
  1. Production Assistants £200 p/d

Responsibilities:

  • Helping to set up, and take down The Mirrorbox at each location 
  • Helping people to navigate the interactive experience
  • Documenting the journey (through video, photos and sound)

Experience and skills needed:

  • You will need to be physically fit, able to lift and carry sections of the box (max 25kg)
  • Outgoing, empathetic and good with the general public
  • A background / interest in curation, photography, sound or documentation
  • An understanding of M.E. and Long Covid
