Hello Huddersfield town. I would be here if I could.
I live in Huddersfield and up until about 2 years ago, I used to love meeting with friends in town and also loved walking around shopping. I was always on the go. Working as hard as I could at the Entertainer and then back into town for shopping when I wasn’t. I used to take it all for granted.
Then something changed and I suddenly had no energy amongst other symptoms. I was diagnosed with ME/CFS and now I only have approximately three good days a month. If I’m honest, it’s not even an hour that I’m able to last. I use all my energy just getting out of bed in the morning. I’m mostly housebound.
I miss looking around the shops. I miss walking about. I miss being able to nip to town whenever I felt like it. I miss walking through Kingsgate on my lunch break from work. I miss being able to hold a conversation. I miss being able to walk up to Greenhead park. I never thought there would be a day when I was no longer able to do all the little things.
I grieve for the person I used to be.
