Before I became ill, one of my favourite things was to find a bench with a view. To sit and enjoy a flask of hot chocolate and some cake, whilst gazing at the wonders before me.
And my other favourite thing was to have someone to share all of this with, to be able to smile at one another and say, โIsn’t this wonderful!โ and make some precious memories together. That’s why this place is so special to me.
I spend most of my days now lying down alone in the dark, but I try to end each day by thinking of something to be grateful for. And I’m grateful for the memories of this place where you’re stood right now.
For walking with friends through the woods to get here.
I especially remember one new year’s day, when we came across a magical winter wonderland with frost everywhere. Oh, it was amazing! Crunching through autumn leaves in wellies with my grandchildren.
Or, listening to Wotton Silverband playing hymns on the hill on the first Sunday in May whilst sitting on picnic blankets with my family, admiring the view. It always seemed a wonderfully English thing to do.
And last, but certainly not least, walking hand in hand with my husband.
Today, I’m grateful for being able to share these special memories with you. So thanks for listening, and I hope you enjoy the rest of your day making some of your own memories to take home with you.
Bye.
